Generex Generators
We are a supplier of diesel power generation equipment used for all ratings including Standby, Prime and Continuous power applications. Prime and Continuous rated Diesel Power generation is at the heart of what we do.
STANDARD POWER
We offer a range of packaged generating sets varying in size from 30kVA to 2200kVA.
Standard power packages are readily available from our factory based in Alberton North and are offered in a variety of configurations designed to meet the budget needs of both cost conscious as well as discerning customers.
CUSTOMISED POWER
We specialise in the concept and project design, manufacture, on-site installation and commissioning of power generation plant for Prime and Continuous rated power generation with a total single installed capacity of up to 30MW and output voltages of between 400V and 11kV.
We operate from premises situated in Alberton, Gauteng, and are active throughout South Africa and sub Saharan Africa serving our customers in the mining, retail trade, healthcare, hospitality, information technology and manufacturing sectors.

Generator Ratings
The relevance of ratings is becoming increasingly important component of the design criteria of a generator. The rating defines the capability of a generator to deliver power at the specified output on a sustainable and reliable basis.
Ratings are commonly used by manufacturers to correctly size a generator. This is done so to ensure that the equipment is sized correctly and able deliver the right amount of power required for the specific application. There are several ratings available, but the three most common ratings are as follows:
CONTINUOUS POWER
Continuous power rating is used in applications where supplying power is at a constant 100% load for an unlimited number of hours each year.
Continuous power rated units are most widely used in applications where the power grid is unreachable.
STANDBY POWER
This is the rating available in the event of the main power network failure up to a maximum of 500 hours per year of which up to 300 hours may be run continuously.
The load factor may be up to 100% of the standby power rating. No overload is permitted.
PRIME POWER
This is the rating available at varying load with load factor not exceeding 80% of the prime power rating.
Overload of 10% permitted for one hour in every 12-hours of operation.
